Who We Are
Grants Microfinance bank commenced business as a Community Bank on 11th November ,1993 under the name Gwagwalada Community Bank.
Community Banking was launched under the auspices of the then President Ibrahim Babangida in 1990. The goal of community banking, as the name implied, was to bring about a financial system that would serve the community as well as reach out to the financially excluded.
Grants Microfinance Bank rose to the occasion by doing that under the leadership of its founder and great visionary, Late Dr. Edith Chinedu Aliyu. It metamorphosed into a Microfinance bank with the advent of Microfinance banks replacing community banks and was given a provisional license to operate as Microfinance bank on 23rd November 2007.
